Summary:Rising oil prices and the Fukushima nuclear accident have brought back to the fore an old debate about the supply of energy, in this paper we think the best solution is to diversify energy sources, promoting alternative energy sources to oil and overall energy efficiency. We have studied the energetic structure of eight Latin American countries (Chile, Venezuela, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Colombia) and we have compared them, mentioning the most important features of each.
