Summary:By using the Mini-MOP image analyser the macroporosity of non-sintered and sintered laboratory cokes have been studied. The method proposed allows one to determine the macroporosity of cokes from coals of different rank by taking into account both the sizes and shapes of pores. Pores of different diameters ranging from 1 mu m to a few millimeters were measured by applying different magnifications. A new concept of macroporous texture description has been proposed.
