Mechanical Properties Of Mg-12Li-xAl Alloys Reinforced By Short Saffil Fibres

Composites with a matrix from Mg12Li-xAl (x = 0, 3, 5) alloys reinforced by 10 vol.% of Saffil short fibres were deformed in compression at temperatures from room temperature up to 200DGC. Flow stresses increase with increasing Al content and decrease with increasing temperature. Deformation stress...

Summary:Composites with a matrix from Mg12Li-xAl (x = 0, 3, 5) alloys reinforced by 10 vol.% of Saffil short fibres were deformed in compression at temperatures from room temperature up to 200DGC. Flow stresses increase with increasing Al content and decrease with increasing temperature. Deformation stress achieved its maximum value at low deformation steps then it decreased with the strain or exhibited a stationary value. Possible hardening and softening mechanisms are discussed.
