Reproductive performance of Zlotnicka White pigs as related to RYR1 gene
The material consisted of 89 sows and two boars of Zlotnicka White breed kept under conservative breeding conditions in Zlotniki and Strzeszyn. Frequencies were estimated of RYR1 genotypes (RYR1 super(CC), RYR1 super(CT), RYR1 super(TT)) and gene RYR1 alleles. The genotype was determined on the basi...

Summary: | The material consisted of 89 sows and two boars of Zlotnicka White breed kept under conservative breeding conditions in Zlotniki and Strzeszyn. Frequencies were estimated of RYR1 genotypes (RYR1 super(CC), RYR1 super(CT), RYR1 super(TT)) and gene RYR1 alleles. The genotype was determined on the basis of PCR-RFLP analysis (C arrow right T in 1843 position of cDNA of the ryanodine receptor gene) using the HhaI restriction enzyme. Data concerning breeding performance were arranged and evaluated according to the genotype of the dam. Among the 91 analysed animals, the following RYR1 genotypes were identified: dominant homozygotes (n=75, 82.41%), recessive homozygotes (n=13, 14.28%) and recessive heterozygotes (n=3, 3.29%). At locus RYR1 the highest frequency (0.890%) was found for allele C (normal). Genotype RYR1 super(TT) was found to be significantly or highly significantly related only to piglet losses up to day 21. |
