Summary:The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of selected soil and horizontal ground heat exchanger operating parameters on the heat pump coefficient of performance (COP). In this paper besides thermal conductivity, the effect of parameters such as mass flow and fluid dynamic viscosity were investigated. The subject of the research was a horizontal ground heat exchanger. Conducting researches on the real object is extremely expensive, so it was decided to conduct simulation studies using finite element method. The main aim of this study was solved by using design of experiment (DoE) techniques with response surface and an extended central composite design was used. The presented results of research confirm that the greatest impact on the heat pump coefficient of performance has a thermal conductivity of the soil but not without significance are the other parameters. The presented methodology can significantly reduce the time of the research and determine the effect of various parameters on the heat pump performance.
