DAZZLING OFFICIAL JUN WARES: From Museums and Collections Around the World

Kerr offers her insights about her book focused on ceramics. She mentions "The book, published by ACC Arts Books in September 2021, fulfils a long-held ambition of mine, namely to inspire collectors and all students and lovers of Chinese ceramics, by gathering together illustrations of some of the finest ceramics in private and public collections around the world. I have started with Jun ware, and hope to undertake a similar exercise with other Chinese wares in the future. Of course, it is nowadays possible to source a great variety of materials online. However, both the quality of images and the information accompanying them is variable, and cannot always (in my opinion) be relied on. I also find a printed book easier to consult and read, especially one with good illustrations. For this volume, I have been fortunate to have had assistance in sourcing images and catalogue details from museums and a few private collections, which is an onerous task. I have then undertaken the task of sorting the images into categories, and captioning them in a coherent fashion. This can sometimes be a little problematic, owing to the wishes of owners, both institutional and personal. At the beginning of the book, I have provided an essay that includes background information on Jun wares. I consider Jun wares unique for two reasons: their artistry, and their technology."
