Summary: | I In 2004, CWLA set out to expand awareness about the impact of America's affordable housing crisis on children, youth, and families in child welfare by publishing a special issue of Child Welfare journal. The issue documented the substantial overlap between the homeless services system and child protective services; authors offered solutions and empirical evidence of best practices and agency partnerships designed to address housing needs of families, and of youth aging out. Also included were two cost-benefit analyses so compelling that Congress used them as the basis to reestablish $50 million in funding for a housing program dedicated specifically to child welfare-involved families and older youth-the Family Unification Program. |
