Summary:Geoecological research on a large scale is often based on the use of qualitative data. This data allows us to create complex geoecological relatively homogeneous units of small areas. For research in the area with little varied physical-geographical conditions (and with the lack of qualitative data) it is often necessary to use quantitative indicators. Especially, it is possible to use these indicators in environmentally degraded areas. Here it is necessary to use quantitative characteristics of the environmental load of individual landscape components. The present paper deals with the use of qualitative and quantitative data in geoecological research in the environmentally loaded area of Krompachy in Slovakia. Based on these data, it is possible to determine the spatial differentiation of geoecological units in areas with a lack of quality indicators. The main differentiating factor of spatial distribution of geoecological complexes is the heavy metal content of the soil in the different complexes. Geoecological research method at the geographical (research) point was the main method of research.
