Summary:This paper emphasizes in general terms how important the patient non-discrimination is as an element of professional ethics and medical responsibility. After a brief review of the studies that show the presence of patient discrimination under various forms: gender, racial, social class discrimination, the paper is approaching the non-discrimination obligation from ethical perspectives, from relevant historical texts up to the present, shifting it towards the professional medical responsibility. For this reason, we bring into discussion the provisions of Patient Rights Law 46/2003 and Law 95/2006 adjacent to patient non-discrimination, as well as legal aspects that stipulate the civil responsibility of doctors who fail to comply with these provisions.
