Summary:Schauerte discusses Johann Christian Georg Von Heusinger. After graduating from high school in 1947 he studied art history, history and archaeology in Marburg and Freiburg im Breisgau. Von Heusinger became a renowned expert especially on early modern graphic art, and many of his essays have become fundamental resources on their subjects. His publication, with Horst Appuhn, Riesenholzschnitte und Papiertapeten der Renaissance (Large woodcuts and paper wallpaper of the Renaissance) remains a standard reference. He also curated exhibitions and catalogs on the art of the Enlightenment and on twentieth-century prints and drawings, but his most passionate specialist interest belonged to three great masters: Goya, Rembrandt and Durer. He died on 20 August 2022.
