Summary: | Public theology is an important form of socially-engaged theology now practised globally and thus in the Australian context. It attempts to provide a positive contribution to predominantly secular liberal democratic societies. However, it appears to need more emphasis on an understanding of a 'public mood.' The intention of this paper is therefore to demonstrate how the 'communion of saints'-the communio sanctorum (communio) - understood from the perspective of a Lutheran pastoral-social theology, may assist the church to discover or rediscover its mood or heart for the public life. |
