Summary:This study is about interdisciplinarity as a phenomenon and as an emerging subject in Science, which has been divided into many knowledge and professional formation specialties or disciplines, mainly in the health and nursing areas. The approach is of a critical and philosophical nature and the main intention is to point out difficulties and problems with the aim of encouraging and further advancing the discussion. General, more current concepts are presented along with epistemological ideas subjacent to the repercussions of teamwork and transcendent to the conscience beyond the subject's philosophy. The author defends her opinion and posture towards the theme using examples from her academic practice and experience at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro's Anna Nery School of Nursing.
