Summary:The mechanical properties between three-dimensional (3D) braided and laminated composites were comparatively studied. These two sorts of composites were produced by the same carbon fiber, resin matrix and the same preparation process (RTM). There were totally four kinds of 3D multi-directionally braided composites, which contain 3D four-direction (3D4d), 3D five-direction (3D5d), 3D six-direction (3D6d) and 3D seven-direction (3D7d) braiding respectively. And the three kinds of laminated composites manufactured utilizing tire cord fabric were 0 degree , 90 degree and[0/(45)(2)/90](2s) laminates. The mechanical properties of braided and laminated specimens were measured by the same tension, compression and shear testing methods. The results show that the properties of laminated composites are worse than that of 3D-braided composite except 0 degree unidirectional laminates. As to the braided composites, the smaller the braiding angle is, the better longitudinal properties and worse shear properties are. The bra
