Summary:This paper presents a miniaturized wideband DSPSL hybrid coupler with phase inverter; the open-stubs are also introduced to further reduce the size of the hybrid coupler. The design strategies and procedures of the hybrid coupler are presented at first. A prototype operating at 1 GHz is fabricated for verification. The experimental results show that the size of the proposed hybrid is reduced to 11% of the conventional hybrid coupler. The relative operating bandwidth is greater than 80%, return loss at the central operating frequency is less than -20 dB, while the isolation is less than -30 dB.
