Summary: | Generally, the negative environmental impact of artificial meander cut-offs is marked by a series of morphodynamical processes i.e., reducing channel sinuosity, modifying rates of lateral migration, and affecting floodplain sedimentology, erosion downstream, and reducing sediment deposition in delta regions [9, 10]. [...]the meander cut-offs are subject to flow pattern modifications of rivers, water level fluctuations, impairing water quality status (nutrient distribution and oxygen levels) [11, 12], and habitat biodiversity. [...]this study aimed to assess the water quality status of the Sf. The investigated sampling sites are intensely influenced by the active hydrodynamic conditions of the Danube River alluvial input (flow velocity, discharge, water disturbances). [...]they could be vulnerable to various upstream Danube pollution sources, including local intensive fluvial transport and shipyard activities along the water course. The EXO probe collects data using various sensors, each measuring parameters through a variety of physical, optical, electrochemical, and other detection methods. [...]parameters such as water temperature (°C), pH (units), dissolved oxygen (mg/L), saturated oxygen (%), chlorophyll "a" (ng/L), electrical conductivity (uS/cm), total dissolved solids (mg/L), salinity (psu), turbidity (NTU), and redox potential (mV) have been estimated immediately on-site. |
