Summary:This chapter focuses on innovation in systems of postpartum care. Soon after delivery, many women struggle with multidimensional postpartum challenges, such as insurance interruptions and incomplete handoffs between obstetrician-gynecologists and other healthcare providers as well as limited monitoring and accountability for the quality of healthcare services. The chapter focuses on strategies and interventions for reclaiming and reshaping postpartum care in the United States. Selected strategies include integrating multidisciplinary teams into the perinatal care continuum, standardization of clinical processes, improvement of patient–healthcare team communication, and recognition and uplift of community leadership.
