Summary: | Aims to produce a consensus experimental method for determining gap size creation in the canopy of forests of Nothofagus pumilio which may be suitable for both forest management and ecological analysis. Determines the sizes of 14 artificially created forest gaps under a range of scenarios involving two definitions of gap limit, six calculation methods and using either the gap surface or the ratio between the gap diameter and canopy height, then compares these scenarios based on their correlation with three ecological variables (incident radiation, soil moisture, and sapling growth).
