| Summary: | For the purpose of investigating the method of determining the affinity among corn strains, the experiments were carried out from 1952 to 1953 using each 3 to 5 inbred lines raised from three varieties. A 5 gr. lot of pollen of each inbred line was extracted by boiling it in 50 cc of the physiological solution (0.85% NaCl), and the filtrate was used as the antigen. The antiserum was prepared through 2 rabbits for each inbred line. Between the inbred lines A and B, which had been separated comparatively earlier in generation i.e. each being S_ , an obvious precipitine reaction was obtained ; while by the line C separated form S_3 to S_5 generations deriving from the same source as A or B lines its precipitine reaction with the line A or B was similarly marked but not so decidedly as by the former case. |
