기형도 시에 나타난 가족상과 관계성에 대한 시적 통찰

본고는 기형도의 시에 나타난 가족과 개인의 역학관계를 살펴보고, 이를 통해 그가 생각한 새로운 공동체의 조건이 무엇이었는지 논의하고자 한다. 1980년대는 ‘환상’이 지배하던 시기였다. 그리고 침묵이 강요되던 시기였다. 이에 반발하여 한편에서는 ‘가족’, ‘국가’, ‘민족’ 같은 근대적 동질성 기획을 재설정하고 이를 시로 써냄으로써 저항하려던 시인들이 있었다. 기형도는 기존의 것을 포함하여 당시 새롭게 등장한 동질성 기획에 대해서도 근본적으로 고민하며, 도래할 새로운 형태의 공동체에 대해 나름대로 구상을 시도하는 또 다른 길을 택했다. 분명히 ‘동질성’이라는 정신적 차원의 ‘보호막’이 사라지는, 적어도 제 기능을 못하는 상황에서는 그동안 의식되지 않았던 내면의 불안이 의식될 수밖에 없다. 하지만 그렇다고 해서 기존의 공동체 개념을 다시 가져올 수는 없다. ‘개인’의 발견 이후 기존의 공동체 개념이 가진 한계가 명백히 드러나게 되었기 때문이다. 그러나 그러한 고민에서 도래할 새로운 공동체의 상과 그 조건이 발견되었다. 기형도의 이러한 구상과 그에 수반되는 불안의 감정 등은 동구권 사회주의의 몰락과 소위 ‘문민정부’ 이후 또다시 급격하게 변화하는 시대 속, 당시 청년세대에게 그가 ‘시대의 문학적 아이콘’으로 자리 잡을 수 있게 된 이유이기도 했다. 본고는 그러한 시도와 궤적에 대한 탐사라고 할 수 있다. This study examines the dynamics of family and individuals in Gi Hyeong-do's poems and attempts to identify what the conditions of the new community he thought of. The 1980s was a time when “fantasy” dominated. And that was the time when 'silence' was forced. In response to this situation, the poets of that time resisted by writing a poem that resets modern homogeneity plans such as 'family', 'country' and 'nation'. Gi Hyeong-do fundamentally considered not only the existing homogeneity plan but also the newly introduced homogeneity plan. And he attempted to conceive of a new form of community to come. Obviously, in the situation where the mental barrier of homogeneity disappears, or when it is not functioning properly, the inner anxiety that has not been conscious in the past must be conscious again. But that does not bring back the previous concept of community. After the discovery of the 'individual', the limitations of previous community concepts became apparent. But in such distress, the image and conditions of the new community to come can be found. Gi Hyeong-do's thoughts and the accompanying feelings of anxiety were the reasons why he became a literary icon of the times in the era of the collapse of socialism in Eastern Europe and the emergence of the civilian government.
