Summary:The purpose of this study is to evaluate elementary English learning sites of the public and private institutions and suggest ways to elevate their effective use for English teaching. Four public and four private web sites were selected for the analysis under a standard criterion which was classified into three categories: educational contents, educational design, and educational environment. All the items for each web site were respectively valued by 5-point Likert scale. The contents, system, and design of public web sites were found generally good. They were found to deal with various categories such as the students' English levels, school grades, and language skills. The sites were found to be reasonably stable to approach as well. There were, however, some issues to be improved in terms of approachability, development, and maintenance. On the basis of the results from the analysis, the ways to enhance the sites and elevate the practical use of public English learning web sites are proposed. KCI Citation Count: 4
