Summary: | Recent trends in the automobile industry have demanded the improvement of the fuel efficiency to reduce the emission gas by strengthening the environment and environmental regulations to minimize air pollution. It becomes serious social problems in recent years and safety improvement for accident reduction is required. In order to meet these demands, various applications of high strength materials and laser welding have been applied. In this study, we investigated the effect of flange edge width on rotational deformation of flange end during laser welding of TWIP steel for automobile body. For this purpose, the amount of rotational deformation by welding was analyzed by an FE analysis while the distance between the heat source and edge was changed as 1.5mm, 2.5mm and 3.5mm. The maximum deformation occurred at 60% of the total weld length after the start of welding. The size of deformation was larger as the distance between the heat source and edge were shorter. The relative displacements of both fusion lines were analyzed to investigate the effect of tensile displacement on the solidification crack. The tensile displacement at the welding start position was larger as the distance between the welding heat source and edge was shorter. KCI Citation Count: 1 |
