태권도 품새 동작에 대한 내용분석

본 연구는 태권도에서 근래에 경기종목으로 채택되어 시행되고 있는 품새 경기에 대한 내용분석으로서, 유급자(태극1장∼8장) 및 유단자(고려∼일여) 품새(전체 17개)에 포함된 기본기술 및 세부기술들의 다양한 특징에 따라 체계적 분류를 시도하였다. 자료의 수집은 세계태권도연맹 및 대한태권도협회 그리고 국기원에서 사용하는 태권도 품새 교본, 선행연구 및 관련문헌을 바탕으로 자료 수집하였다. 자료분석은 PASW 18.0 Ver Program을 이용하여 분류기준별(신체분절, 기술목적, 기본기술, 동작의 방향) 빈도분석(frequency analysis)을 실시하였으며, 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 유급자 및 유단자 품새에 포함된 모든 기술동작들의 약 2/3는 태권도의 준비자세인 서기와 기본방어 동작인 막기와 관련된 세부기술들이 반복적으로 수행되는 형태로 구성되어 있었다[유급자 67.9%, 유단자 67.3%]. 그리고 전반적으로 모든 상지(손) 및 하지(발)의 세부기술들은 공격을 위한 동작(offensive actions)보다는 방어를 위한 동작(defensive actions)의 비율(32.0% vs. 68.0%)이 월등히 높았으며, 곡선(회전)동작(curve(rotation) movements)보다는 직선적 동작(liner movements)이 훨씬 많았다(47.7% vs. 52.3%). 또한 태권도의 대표적인 상징인 발차기 동작의 비율은 손동작에 비하여 현저하게 낮았다. 그리고 태권도의 품새는 급(級) 또는 단(段)이 올라갈수록 동작의 다양성 및 난이도가 높은 것으로 인식되어 있으나 본 연구의 결과에서는 급 또는 단의 고저(高低)를 인식할 수 있는 체계적인 특징을 볼 수가 없었다. 태권도에서 겨루기에 이어 품새가 경기화 되면서 태권도 현장뿐만 아니라 관련분야 연구자들에게도 품새 기술의 구성에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 품새의 급은 기술동작의 완성도에 따라 높아지는 승급체계를 가지고 있으며 이러한 위계적 단계는 유단자 품새에서도 동일하게 적용되고 있는 것으로 인식되어 있다. 하지만 본 연구의 결과에 의하면 대부분의 품새는 급 또는 단의 변화에 따른 동작의 다양성 및 난이도가 위계적으로 구성되어 있지 않다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 품새 경기의 변별력을 높이고 심판 판정의 객관성 및 정확성을 높이기 위해서는 현재 사용되고 있는 품새의 급 또는 단의 위계적 단계에 따라 기술동작의 다양성 및 난이도가 고려된 체계적 구성이 될 수 있도록 보완이 필요할 것으로 판단된다. The purpose of the study was to analyze the characteristics of Taekwondo Poomsae movements. Content analysis was conducted in an attempted to systematically classify Poomsae movements that are included in both Geup (Taegeuk Chapter 1∼8) and Dan Grades (Koryo-Ilyeo) Poomsaes (Total 17). Poomsae text books currently used in Kukkiwon, KTA, WTF, and related previous studies were referenced for data collection. A total of 984 movements in both Geups and Dans was classified according to pre-specified classification criteria such as Body Segment, Basic Skills, Purpose of Technique, and Direction of Motion. Frequency and contingency analyses were conducted using PASW 18.0 Version Program. The results obtained in the present study can be summarized as follows. Approximately 2/3 of all Poomsae movements included in Geups and Dans were related to two basic skills, namely Seogi(stance) and Makgi(block)[68.9% for Geups and 67.3% for Dans]. The proportion of defensive actions were much higher than offensive actions (68.0% vs. 32.0%), and that of linear movements was much higher than curve (rotation) movements (52.3% vs. 47.7%). In addition, unlike the common image of Taekwondo, the frequency of kick (leg) techniques was significantly lower than that of hand techniques. The level of difficulty and movement diversity of Taekwondo Poomsaes are recognized to be deepened as Geup and Dan become higher; however, the results of this study did not show such systematic characteristics to recognize and differentiate between the Geups and Dans. As Taekwondo Poomsae becomes official competition events, the interest in the configuration of Poomsae techniques is increasing in the field of Taekwondo Poomsae research as well as in the field of Taekwondo itself. The techniques and movements in Poomsae Geups as well as Dans were recognized to be determined and composed depending on the completeness of Taekwondo techniques execution. According to the results of the present study, however, most of the Poomsaes movement techniques did not contain such characteristics in terms of skill difficulty and movement diversity as grades of Geups and Dans upgrades. Thus, from the evaluation point of view in Poomsae competition it was suggested that an effort should be made to reconstruct the contents of Poomsae movements and techniques according to the level of grades in Geups and Dans. This efforts would, in trun, result in the fairness of official judgements in Poomsae competitions which often appear to be a controversy in the field of Taekwondo Poomsae competitions.
