Their poems voice their grievances and over the misfortunes and slights they had suffered as foreign poets in Tang Dynasty, Living at the time when The Tang Dynasty was on the road to decline and fall, they wrote poems that are mostly expressions of breavement, recollection and sighs with a musical lament.
