Summary: | Smart devices have become widespread in recent years, and there are various ongoing attempts to utilize them in everyday life to measure the human movement and, more specifically, the number of steps taken. In most cases, Smart devices use gyro/acceleration sensors to detect and process steps, however, detecting steps and measuring step rate with these sensors depends on the location of the device and how it is carried. Therefore, in an attempt to eliminate the errors of gyro/acceleration sensors, we have designed a step rate measuring system that can detect steps through a piezoelectric sensor. By comparing the actual step rate with the step rate as measured by a smart phone, we have been able to verify the usefulness of the measuring system. |
