Summary:The article outlines common problems in teaching math to engineering students. Problems relate to students' academic motivation and teacher's readiness to use in the learning process elements of the quasiprofessional activity. Different approaches to an increase in students' motivation have been reviewed and learning objectives for math teaching have been defined. Levels of the students' quasi-professional activity and its role in the motivation increase for subject learning have been defined. There are examples of quasiprofessional activities implemented in the learning process. Results of the experimental work are given and the article summarizing benefits of business role-playing games in the learning process. The role of a teacherstudent interaction in the learning process for the motivation increase has been reviewed.
