Summary:Time perspective is defined as one of personality traits. According to the time perspective theory, when educating students, teachers tend to encourage them to have the future time perspective instead of the present time perspective because the present time perspective causes risky behaviors of the students. In addition, the risky behaviors are related to addictions. Recently, smart phone addiction is one of the annoying problems for adolescent. Teachers should devise good ways to lessen students' addiction level and to lengthen their future time perspectives. However, present time perspective is not always negative in our lives. In this paper, we analyze the present hedonism more in detail and determine the relationship among the present hedonism, abstract thinking ability, and academic achievement of adolescent. To achieve our research goals, we surveyed the high school students of South Korea. As the results, we found that risk-taking feature of the present time perspective can enhance students' academic achievement unlike impulsivity. Also, we found that increasing the abstract thinking levels of the students can help to reduce the students' smart phone addiction.
