Summary:This study presents the development of an electrochemical carbon capture technology for direct air capture (DAC). The membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) design was optimized through the utilization of various commercial polymer electrolyte membranes and catalysts. Carbon capture ratio was evaluated using the fabricated MEA. As a result, we were able to demonstrate the feasibility of electrochemical carbon capture technology by showing a carbon capture ratio of approximately 87% in a simulated air gas containing 398 ppm of carbon dioxide.
