Summary: | The four treasures of life, essence[精]ㆍspirit[神]ㆍenergy[氣]ㆍblood, separates into four different qualities in activities of life and performs its' own duties, despite the fact that they all have the same origin. But the logic system of oriental medicine emphasized the connection between them rather than the separation. It also valued the importance of functions of only energy and blood[氣血]. So inevitably, the oriental medicine logic lacks research on the differentiation of mentality[神志], its' characteristic and use. This lack of research can be the cause of a mistaken diagnosis. For example, diseases like insanity, epilepsy, imbecility, and amnesia can very much likely to be caused by abnormality of Mentality. But without enough understanding of Mentality, we can easily mistake the disease's cause for abnormality of Ki or blood, or we might even assume that it developed into such secondary mental diseases from diseases that primarily generated in organs. As a way of solution to this problem, I have studied and compared various masters' editorials, focusing on 『Hwangjenekyung』, and presented them in the main subject. I have analyzed each characteristics, abilities, duties and the mutual metabolism of the vitality, spirit, thought, will and other Mentality units. Based on these studies and analysis, I have contemplated on the operation of Meutality inside a human's mind, such as recognition, sense, thinking, memory, and dream. KCI Citation Count: 3 |
