산업기술복잡성에 따른 기술확보전략의 경영성과 효과 분석

기업들이 혁신제품을 개발하고 성공적으로 시장에 안착시키기까지 다양한 위험과 저해요인이 산재해 있다. 개발 및 사업화 과정의 위험을 줄이기 위해 이미 연구개발이 성공적으로 끝난 기술들을 권리이전 등의 방법을 통해 내재화하는 전략을 택하는 중소기업이 늘어나고 있으며, 정부 차원에서도 이와 같은 기술이전을 지원하는 정책들이 수행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이전받은 기술을 활용한 제품혁신활동이 중소기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 기술획득전략(자체개발, 공동개발, 외부개발) 및 이들의 조합이 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 또한 기술이전 관련 정부 정책의 실효성 제고를 위한 시사점을 도출하고자, 기술획득전략과 경영성과의 관계에 산업기술복잡성이 가지는 조절 효과를 분석하였다. 분석 자료로는 2016년 한국기업혁신조사에 응답한 중소제조기업의 자료를 활용하였다. 분석결과, 기술복잡성이 높아질수록 자체연구개발만을 활용한 제품혁신활동보다 공동개발전략, 혹은 자체개발과 외부개발을 함께 활용하는 경우 경영 성과에 미치는 긍정적인 영향이 높아진다는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기술복잡성이 높은 산업에 속한 기업의 경우 외부기술의 도입을 통해 경영성과 개선을 추가적으로 기대할 수 있음을 의미하며, 기술이전 지원정책 또한 기술 복잡성의 조절효과를 고려하여 설계될 필요가 있음을 시사한다. There is a variety of risks for companies to develop market innovative products successfully. To reduce such risks, SMEs are increasingly adopting external technologies that have been successfully researched and developed through rights transfer. In accordance with the above, government policies are being implemented to support such technology transfer. In this study, we analyzed the effects of product innovation activities using transferred technology on the management performance of SMEs. In addition, the moderating effect of industrial characteristics on the relationship between technology transfer and management performance was analyzed. For analysis, data from small and medium-sized manufacturers that responded to the 2016 Korea Innovation Survey(KIS) were used. The analysis showed that the higher the technical complexity, the greater the positive impact on management performance when using joint development strategies or combining in-house R&D and external R&D rather than product innovation activities using only in-house R&D. This means that companies in industries with high technology complexity can expect to improve management performance on technology acquisition strategies through the introduction of external technology, and policies supporting technology transfer should be designed in consideration of the moderating effects of technology complexity.
