현대 패션디자인에 나타난 해골이미지 연구

과거 죽음, 공포를 상징하고 하위문화의 스트리트 패션에서 주로 나타나던 해골이미지는 최근 다양한 미의식의 대두와 재해석으로 패션계를 비롯한 다양한 디자인 영역에서 각광받고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 오늘날 트렌디한 아이템으로 부상하고 있는 해골이미지의 시대적 표현의미와 시각 예술 분야에 따른 해골이미지의 미적특성을 분류, 고찰해 보았다. 시각 예술 분야에 따른 해골이미지의 미적특성은 악마적 공포성, 팜므파탈적 관능성, 낭만적 환상성, 대중적 유희성 4가지로 나타났다. 악마적 공포성은 세기말적인 분위기를 나타내는 악마주의의 영향을 받아 공포와 죽음, 불안감 등을 드러내기 위해 해골, 마녀, 뱀파이어, 고스 등 불멸의 존재들을 표현하였다. 팜므파탈적 관능성은 사회적 불평등과 권력에 저항하는 전투적인 여성상을 나타내었고, 남성 권력적 모티브와 상반되는 여성스러운 실루엣, 소재, 아이템 간의 결합이 특징적이다. 낭만적 환상성은 해골 이미지의 신화적인 면과 영원함을 상징하는 모티브를 통해 부활, 영원, 순수함, 여신 이미지를 선보였다. 대중적 유희성은 친근하고 우스꽝스러운 해골이미지를 통해 현대인들의 긴장감을 해소시키고, 여유와 웃음을 유발한다. 이상과 같이 현대패션에 나타난 해골이미지는 다양한 표현기법과 소재를 활용한 실험적이고 창의적인 디자인의 영감이 되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 국내 패션 디자인을 연구하는데 있어 기초적인 연구 자료로서 활용될 수 있을 것이며, 실제적으로 디자인을 고안하는 단계에서 발상기법의 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. The skull image that was symbol of death and fear, mainly shown in the subculture of fashion has recently drawn attention as fashionable icon in various design fields because of the rise of a variety of aesthetic consciousness. This study considers a historical meaning of skull image and classifies aesthetic characteristics. Aesthetic characters of the skull image according to the visual arts sector are Diabolical horror, Sensuality femme fatale, Romantic fantasy, Popular enjoyment. Diabolical horror that got inspiration from Fin de siecle mood expressed the immortal such as skull, witch, vampire, goth to show the fear of death and anxiety. Sensuality of femme fatale expresses a feminine form of a militant woman who resist injustice of society. It is charactered by combination of feminine elements that are contrary to male power motive. Romantic fantasy shows revival, eternity, purity and goddess image through the motive symbolizing mythological side and eternity of skull image. Popular enjoyment relieves tension as well as causes laughter with the funny and friendly skull image. As described above, a skull image in contemporary fashion design is experimental and creative inspiration through the various technique of expression and material. With this result, we are able to use this study as a basic research data for studying fashion design and this study is expected to be used as materials for idea techniques in the design stage.
