Summary:Gwangong(關公) was a general in Shu(蜀) of the period of the Three Kingdoms. Though many heroes besides Gwangong appeared in the period of the Three Kingdoms, Chinese has apotheosized and worshiped Gwangong through long history. There has never been such a case like this all through Chinese culture. This paper will study the change of Gwangong's image through the novels that played a decisive role apotheosizing Gwangong.San Guo Zhi Ping Hua(三國志平話) written in Yuan-Ming Dynasty is the first novel among literary works with theme of the Three Kingdoms story.San Guo Yan Yi(三國演義) written by Luo Guan Zhong(羅貫中) made a synthesis of the stories of Three Kingdoms handed down till in addition, played a decisive role to apotheosize Gwangong and make him the incarnation of loyalty.Therefore, the inquire into the change of Gwangong's image in this paper is based on Guo Zhi Ping Hua(三國志平話) and San Guo Yan Yi(三國演義).
