Summary: | Purpose: The purpose of this study was to confirm the effects of stress, stress response, grit, and job-seeking anxiety on depression among nursing students. Methods: A survey conducted on 135 nursing students across the country who voluntarily participated in the study. Data were collected from February to April 2023 using 175-question structured questionnaire. The data was analyzed by frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression, using the SPSS 29.0 program. Results: The average age of the subjects was 23.17±3.65 years, and 125 (92.6%) were female. In this study, the average degree of depression of nursing students was 15.33 points, and 59 out of 135 subjects (43.70%) were found to be experiencing depression. The factors influencing depression were their stress response (β=.70, p=<.001) and grit (β=-.13, p=.043), and the explanatory power of these variables for depression in the participants was 64.0%. Conclusion: Depression among nursing students may be reduced by properly managing their stress response. In addition, it is necessary to develop and implement programs to improve grit.
