Summary:Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the meditating effect of compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue on relationship between teacher' competency for prevention of adolescent risk behavior and burnout. Methods: The data was collected from 354 self-reported questionnaires survey by teachers working in elementary school, middle school and high school. The data was analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistic 19.0 program. Mediation analysis was 3-stage multiple regression and the Sobel test. Results: There were significant correlations among teacher' competency for the prevention of adolescent risk behavior, compassion satisfaction, compassion fatigue, and burnout. Compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue, had partial mediating effects on the relationship between teacher' competency for the prevention of adolescent risk behavior and burnout. Conclusion: To prevent teacher' burnout, it is necessary to build effective strategies to strengthen teacher' competency for the prevention of adolescent risk behavior and to improve compassion satisfaction and reduce compassion fatigue.
