Summary:This paper observes postposition alternation errors by advanced Chinese learners of Korean and identifies causes of such errors through the learners’ lexicon storage methods and mother tongue interference and non-automatic alternation. The results of the experiment conducted for this study are analyzed, and the causes are considered. The causes are summarized as follows. First, errors due to deletion of the substantive-final consonant are considered to be related to the way substantives and postposition are stored in the lexicon. Second, postposition alternation errors with substantives with the retained final consonant are attributed to the particularity of non-automatic alternation. Third, the errors related to postvocalic -i/-un/-kwa are identified through the learning difficulties of non-automatic alternation.
