사회적 직관주의가 지니는 도덕교육적 함의

본 연구는 조나단 헤이트(Jonathan Haidt)의 ``사회적 직관주의``가 도덕철학에 대해 제시하는 시사점을 밝히고, 나아가 도덕교육적 함의까지 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이런 목적을 위해 본고는 상당히 학제적인 성격으로 진행되는데, 우선 도덕철학적 의미의 직관 개념과 그 한계에 대해 살펴보았다. 왜냐하면 이에 대한 이해가 전제되어야 도덕 심리학적 입장의 사회적 직관주의가 도덕철학에 대해 제시하는 시사점을 좀 더 정확히 규명할 수 있기 때문이다. 이어서 본고에서는 사회적 직관주의가 지니는 특징들과 이론적 기초들을 살펴봄으로써 헤이트가 강조하는 도덕적 직관 개념이란 무엇이며, 이것이 도덕 심리학을 넘어 도덕철학적인 측면에서는 어떠한 시사점을 지닐 수 있는지 살펴보았다. 그리고 이런 과정을 거쳐 사회적 직관주의가 도덕 심리학과 도덕철학이라는 도덕교육의 두 축에 대하여 각각 일정 이상의 시사점을 지닌다는 결론을 도출하였으며, 이를 근거로 다음과 같은 세가지 도덕교육적 함의를 제시하였다. 첫 번째는 사회적 직관주의가 도덕 심리학과 도덕철학이 나아갈 하나의 방향성을 제시한다는 것이다. 두 번째는 도덕적 직관과 덕 윤리의 연결이다. 세 번째는 응용적인 성격의 시사점으로, 도덕적 직관과 반(反)편견 교육의 연결이다. This study aimed to investigate meanings on moral philosophy in J. Haidt`s ``Social Intuitionist Model(SIM)`` and derive implications of moral education. In view of its purposes, this paper is considerably interdisciplinary. Then, It first examined ``intuition`` concepts of moral philosophy and their limitations. Because understanding on such points could lay the foundations to make a more exact investigation into the meanings on moral philosophy in SIM with the viewpoint of moral psychology. Moreover, this paper examined characteristics of SIM and theoretical bases for more investigation of J. Haidt`s moral intuition and meanings from a viewpoint of moral philosophy, as well as moral psychology. Then, according to these processes, it derived a conclusion that SIM has quite important points in both axes of moral education, moral psychology and moral philosophy. Accordingly, it presented three implications of moral education as follows. First, SIM gives a future direction to moral psychology and moral philosophy. Second is a connection between moral intuition and virtue theory. Third is a connection between moral intuition and anti-prejudice education, as the implication from a practical viewpoint.
