올림픽 구술사 아카이브 구축을 위한 기초연구: 미국아마추어운동재단의 사례를 중심으로

이 연구는 한국의 체육사 속에서 올림픽에 대한 심각한 사료 결핍과 올림픽 역사 문화 연구 등의 서술을 풍부히 해 줄 수 있는 대안으로 대두되고 있는 올림픽 구술사 아카이브의 의미 탐색과 구축을 위한 기획, 수집, 관리 단계의 방법론적 시사점을 도출하고자 시도하였다. 이를 위해 올림픽 구술사 아카이브의 의미를 탐색하였고, 미국아마추어운동재단의 올림픽 구술사 아카이브 구축 사업의 사례 분석을 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 기획 측면에서는 사업의 목적과 방향성을 토대로 구술 대상 및 방법론을 결정할 것과 배경연구의 중요성에 대한 논의가 필요하다. 둘째, 수집 측면에서는 구체적인 구술대상의 선정과 면담 과정을 중시해야 한다. 셋째, 관리 측면에서는 면담 이후 구술 사료의 녹취, 보존 그리고 활용과 같은 관리상의 제 문제를 검토해야 한다. 이상과 같은 결론을 토대로, 국내의 올림픽 구술사 아카이브의 구축은 다음과 같은 부분을 천착(穿鑿)할 때 그 의미가 더욱 확장될 것이다. 첫째, 올림픽 구술사 아카이브는 지식 생산 주체의 변화를 도모해야 한다. 둘째, 올림픽 구술사 아카이브는 채록된 구술 사료뿐만이 아니라 녹음 및 영상 테이프 등을 함께 보존해야 하며 이를 위해 새로운 분류 체계 수립과 기술(記述)적인 문제들을 고려해야 한다. 셋째, 올림픽 구술사 아카이브는 지식의 공유와 확산을 위한 다양한 측면에서의 방안이 마련되어야 한다. The Purpose of this study was to suggest an alternate direction and methodological approach for building an Olympic Oral History Archives (OOHA) in order to supplement the lack of Korean Olympic sport historical records. The study will also give greater historical and sociological description of Korean Olympic sport history. Based on the oral archives methodology, this study explored the current direction of the OOHA. The study reviewed the characteristics and the scope of the Olympic oral history by searching methodological suggestions and analyzing case studies of the OOHA in the American Amateur Foundation (AAF). The Olympic Oral History Archives could be developed and explained in three factors. First, the OOHA must prepare a change of the individuals` knowledge of the subjection. Second, the OOHA have to consider the establishment of new classification and descriptive methods in order to preserve not only selected oral documents but also audio and video recordings. Third, the OOHA require a variety of efforts for sharing and spreading knowledge to other domains. The suggested course of action for the OOHA by the AAF involved three stages. The first stage, planning stage, revealed the importance of the selection of the oral subject, methodological techniques, and the background incorporated for the purpose of this study. The second stage, collection stage, involved the collection of the oral subjects and the interviews obtained. The final stage, management stage, consisted of the management of the recordings, preservations, and the application of the oral documents once acquired.
