철학교육의 맥락에서 초등 도덕교육의 가능성 연구 -철학적 탐구 공동체와 Kant의 소크라테스식 대화법

현재까지도 초등 도덕교육은 다양한 접근 이론을 교차, 혹은 병행하며 시도되고 있다. 그럼에도 다양한 도덕교육 접근 이론의 공통된 목표는 어린이의 도덕성 함양이라는 점은 부인할 수 없다. 그러나 어린이의 도덕성 함양이라는 목표를 달성하기 위해 수많은 도덕교육 접근 이론과 구체적인 도덕교육 프로그램이 있었음에도 불구하고 도덕적인 문제가 날로 심각해지는 현실은 그 동안의 도덕교육이 그리 성공적이지 못했음을 반영한다. 더욱이 과거 소규모의 공동체 사회와 달리 현대 사회는 고도의 분화와 가치와 문화 등에 있어서도 극심한 상대주의로 특징지어진다. 이러한 변화에 따라 소규모의 공동체 사회에서 승인된 도덕적 규범이나 덕목들은 더 이상 절대적인 힘을 행사하지 못하는 것이 현실이다. 이러한 현실에서 바람직한 초등 도덕교육의 접근에 대한 문제가 제기되는 것은 당연하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 초등 도덕교육의 접근이 전통적 도덕교육에서 반성적 도덕교육으로 전환해야 하는 정당한 이유를 밝히고 반성적 도덕교육의 성공의 열쇠를 철학적 탐구 공동체에서 찾고자 한다. 어린이의 자발성과 자율성을 강조하는 철학적 탐구 공동체이론을 초등 도덕교육에 적용하는 것은 토론의 탐구 과정을 통해 어린이의 도덕적 판단 능력을 향상시키고자 하는데 주된 목적이 있다. 또한 철학적 탐구 공동체에서 권장하는 토론의 이론적 근거인 칸트의 소크라테스식 대화법과 도덕적 문답법은 반성적 도덕교육의 긍정적 대안이 될 수 있을 것이다. Up to the present, elementary moral education is made an attempt with crossing-over and going side by side on the various moral education approach theories. but It is not denied that the common purpose of the various moral education approach theories is fostering children's morality. in spite of a member of moral education approach theories and concrete moral education programs for the achievement of the aim of children's morality building, in process of time, the actual state of moral problems which become more and more serious shows that in the meanwhile moral education is not so much successful. Furthermore unlike the past small scale community, the present age is characterized in a hight degree specialization and an extreme relativism of value and culture. In accordance with this change, the reality is that the moral criterions or virtues were obtained approval in the small scale community can be no longer exercised absolute power. It is natural that the question about a desirable approach of elementary moral education is brought up. Therefore in this paper, I design to clarify the reasonable ground that the traditional moral education has to be transformed into the reflective moral education and to suggest that the key to success in the reflective moral education is philosophical inquiry community. The important meaning which applies the theory of philosophical inquiry community emphasized on children's spontaneity and autonomy to elementary moral education is intended to improve children's moral judgment in the process of discussion. Also, the philosophical inquiry community is based on Socratestic dialogue and moral catechism of Kant can be a positive alternative idea. KCI Citation Count: 2
