The patients consisted of 6 males and 1 female, ranging in age from 49 to 83 years old (mean age, 61 years). The underlying diseases were laryngeal carcinoma in 2 cases and hypopharyngeal carcinoma in 5 cases. All the TEP procedures were performed as secondary operations under general anesthesia.
