Summary: | A 67-year-old male without a virus-related hepatitis was diagnosed as having hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), 3.5 cm in diameter. Prior to admission for curative surgery, he developed dermatomyositis. Since it is well known that dermatomyositis often occurs in patients with a malignant tumor and that a curative resection is the first choice of therapy a lateral segmentectomy of the liver was done to remove the HCC. At present, 10 months after surgery the patient is doing well ; there has been no recurrence of the tumor or of the dermatomyositis. |
