Summary:We have derived the analytical expressions of the transient current in homeotropic nematic liquid crystal (NLC) cells. In this presentation, we determine the dielectric anisotropy and Leslie viscosity coefficients simultaneously by fitting the analytical expressions for transient current to the experimental data using a newly developed algorithm. The algorithm is based on a genetic algorithm, Levenberg-Marquardt method and Regula-Falsi method. We have demonstrated that the algorithm enables us to determine the temperature dependence of dielectric anisotropy and Leslie viscosity coefficients of NLCs with negative dielectric anisotropy.
