Summary:The purpose of this study is to elucidate the educational effects of debriefing using video recording and viewing in “post-operative support” simulation training in adult health nursing. Second year students from the Nursing Department of University A who had completed training in adult health nursing underwent a self-administered questionnaire survey after practice to verify the educational effects filming videos of practice scenarios and viewing the filmed videos during debriefings. The results showed a high correlation between the four items of the ARCS Model of Motivation and items of video footage. Moreover, in free comments on video filming and viewing, 62.3% of respondents showed interest. It was revealed that visualization of support scenarios by video footage attracted the interest of students with repeated viewing during training and was an effective method of heightening the motivation to learn, promoting confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
