Summary:We present a case of 86 years old man with dementia who ingested Laundry Detergent Pods (LDP). His family found that he was vomiting and had diarrhea. He was transferred to our hospital. As his family pointed out, we realized he ingested LDP. He had lung injury, acute kidney injury, and dehydration. He was treated with oxygen, antibiotics, and fluid infusion. He was dismissed without sequelae. LDP poisoning may be fatal to an elderly. The risk is not recognized enough. Anyone who cares for elderly with dementia should be educated on the risk of LDP ingestion.
