DESIGN OF SNOW-MELTING SYSTEM ON ORTHOTROPIC STEEL DECK BRIDGE USING HEAT STORAGE DURING SEASONS THROUGH A GROUP OF ENERGY PILES

Summary:The solar energy is stored into soil surrounding energy piles, using dissipation pipes embedded in concrete of orthotropic steel deck as solar heat collector in summer. When interval of energy piles is narrow enough so that there is interference among piles (called as effect of a group of piles), stored heat in soil in summer does not dissipate in autumn and can be used for snow-melting in winter. In this paper, the cost-effectiveness of the interval of energy piles, the depth and interval of dissipation pipes, number of the piles, coloring of the pavement and thermal condition of running a pump to store solar energy is estimated by climate data of Fukui City.
