Summary:A rare case of hemangioma of the hypopharynx was presented. The patient was a 43-year-old female complaining of an abnormal sensation upon swallowing. A tumor on the postcricoid was revealed by direct hypopharyngoscopy. The tumor had an irregular surface, was purplish, soft, and non-pulsating. The tumor was completely excised by left lateral pharyngotomy. The postoperative course was uneventful. The abnormal sensation upon swallowing disappeared after the removal of the tumor. Histopathological examination revealed a cavernous hemangioma. Other reports on hemangioma of the hypopharynx are reviewed.
