Summary:In this report, the author observed the effect of Pronase-P on the mucous membrane of the maxillary sinus histopathologically. About 15 patients suffering from chronic sinusitis, the mucous membrane of the maxillary sinus was observed before and after administrating Pronase-P to it. In the columnar ciliated epithelial cells of it, the most effective improvements were detected. The irregularity of the cilia was recovered and the cells became flat. In many cases, vacuolated cells and goblet cells decreased in number. The improvement of the proper layer in inflammation was not so remarkable. We can expect much improvement of the ciliated columnar cells and better results in the treatment of sinusitis by administrating Pronase-P.
