Summary:This study investigated the psychological processes for office workers in a land improvement district for technology acceptance using a qualitative research method with trial experiments of the GIS software “VIMS” developed by the Institute for Rural Engineering, NARO. As a result of the analysis using the modified-grounded theory approach, following five categories for acceptance of technology were generated from the statements of office workers in the land improvement district obtained by a semi-structured interview: <internal factors of the land improvement district>, <background of the land improvement district>, <technological factors>, <external factors from the developers> and . As the hypothesis of the psychological processes in technology acceptance, we concluded that <technological factors> were the primary elements for accepting the technology and <external factors from the developers> and <internal factors of the land improvement district> indirectly influenced this acceptance. In addition, <background of the land improvement district> was a key factor for <internal factors of the land improvement district>. Therefore, to promote technology acceptance, it is important to build with office workers in the land improvement district and understand their background.
