Summary:Introduction: Intramedullary fixation using absorbable thread pins is preferred when performing osteosynthesis for finger fractures.  Methods: The subjects were 14 patients(20 sites)who presented to our hospital with open finger fractures due to injury or amputation, among other causes, during a period of 2 months between April and May in 2019. The first-line treatment was intermedullary fixation using thread pins. The usefulness of the method was examined by analyzing the surgical results according to fracture morphology and site.  Results: The surgical methods used were steel wire fixation in 15 patients(75%), intermedullary fixation using thread pins in 4 patients(20%), and a combination of both in 1 patient(5%). All patients attained good bone union.  Discussion: Intramedullary fixation using thread pins is indicated for patients with transverse fracture of the diaphyseal region, oblique fractures, or arthrodesis. However, this method is not indicated for patients with crush fractures or small bone fragments because pin fixation is difficult under these conditions. We are planning to expand the use of this surgical option by applying it in the treatment of closed fractures.
