Summary:We herein report two cases of thrombosis of the sigmoid sinus associated with otitis media and mastoiditis. Case 1 : A man in his 50s had undergone tympanoplasty and mastoidectomy 7 years earlier. He presented with severe headache. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed thrombophlebitis from the right jugular bulb to the sigmoid and transverse sinuses. He was treated with radical mastoidectomy as well as antibiotic and anticoagulation therapy. Case 2 : A man in his 50s was hospitalized because of mastoiditis and sigmoid sinus thrombosis. Computed tomography and MRI showed thrombosis from the left internal jugular vein to the sigmoid sinus. After drainage of the abscess, he was treated with antibiotics and anticoagulation therapy.
