| Abstract | Combining art and architecture in a single encyclopedic reference book is problematic. Artworks are deeply personal expressions of the artist’s imagination, created by an individuated craft. Architecture is a collective expression of design, spatial occupation, material resource appropriation, and the deployment of a labor force. Though space, material, and labor are all factors of the socioeconomic construct, they are not the usual candidates for aesthetic evaluation.
