Summary: | It was the showing of a documentary film called Bound for Nowhere, about the plight of the St. Louis, the ill-fated ship of refugees that was refused admission to Cuba after fleeing Hitler's Germany. Now Krant and Executive Director Sharon Rivo, who started the center together, have concluded an agreement with the Bundesarchiv (the official West German film archive) that will bring antiSemitic Nazi propaganda films to the center, which plans to subtitle them for academic use. The center's "Nazi Anti-Semitic Films" project features six titles, including not only Der ewige Jude but alsi ne Fahrer Gives a City to the Jews, which portrays the 'Icrczin concentration camp as if it were a summer resort (it is the only film known to have been shot by the Nazis inside an operating camp), and the infamous JudSüss, a popular 1940 drama depicting Jews as thieves and rapists. |
